about.
CYC empowers undergraduate students to leverage their knowledge of business with their passion for service. Students engage with low-income and minority-owned small businesses over the course of a semester through an innovative program in which they are trained to provide business owners with comprehensive, pro bono consulting services. Through this process, students gain hands-on business experience and develop skills that prepare them for their future careers, while business owners become empowered to foster their own economic independence and secure their future prosperity, both of which contribute directly to our nation’s economic development and long-term sustainability.
We empower our members to provide clients with impactful solutions.
- Mission Statement
Members of CYC are expected to attend a general meeting for all members from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesdays. During this meeting, our members are taught key skills vital to the success of their client engagements. In addition to weekly general meetings, each client team meets at least once a week to work on their projects. Members are expected to work on deliverables for their client throughout the week. Lastly, we host a variety of social events for our members to get to know each other during the semester. The total commitment ranges from 3 hours to 5 hours per week.
our alumni network.
Our alumni have gone on to work at Bain & Co., Deloitte, Walt Disney, McKinsey & Co., BCG, and more. Additionally, our consultants have also attended the nation’s top business schools to receive their MBAs, including UChicago Booth, Stanford, Harvard, & UPenn. But, CYC is not just for future consultants. In fact, we routinely accept non-business majors! We have alumni studying medicine and law, while others are leading their own non-profits. Regardless of what you want to do, Texas CYC has alumni that can you help you with your career path.
We purposefully keep our organization’s size small and its structure flat. This allows us to know every person by name - not just as a “dues-paying” member. When you join CYC, you are joining a community where everyone takes the time to get to know you. Additionally, we limit the bureaucracy in our organization to help facilitate an ongoing, open dialogue between every member - from first-semester CYCers to our President.
“Our culture cares about you as a person, not your resume.”
- Past CYC President
When you join Texas CYC, we do not expect you to have already be interning at a large consulting or investment banking firm. In fact, we prefer if you didn’t! Our culture is all about helping you achieve your goals and potential. For recruiting, we look for a cultural fit and work ethic more than anything else. We believe those are better indicators of success than anything else.
